Public Safety officers routinely provide information in person or via the campus telephone system. Officers routinely provide access and secure buildings, parking enforcement, fire safety, and manage emergency response and communications.
All members work within the campus Emergency Response Plan in which scenarios of potential emergency situations are specifically addressed. RAVE Guardian Personal Safety App (a mass notification system) is used to disseminate urgent information to all students (including commuter undergraduate and graduate students), families, faculty, and staff.
The campus maintains 23 emergency call boxes in various locations throughout campus. The call boxes are immediately connected to the River Forest Police and Fire Dispatch Center (EMERGENCY or HELP button) as well as the Concordia Department of Public Safety Dispatch Center (INFO button), which responds immediately to emergency calls.
Public Safety highly encourages students, faculty, and staff to immediately report any suspicious person or activity for the safety of the campus community.
Students residing in campus residence halls are instructed to always keep doors closed and locked. All guests are required to be accompanied by the resident. Exterior doors to the residence halls may be accessed only by authorized students and staff with a campus ID (identification card) or key fob.
Public Safety refers students to campus resources via Student of Concern reports or professional counseling services located in West Annex, Kreft Center (1st Floor), WA 130. Counselors can be contacted at 708-209-3229 or counseling.services@CUChicago.edu.
Through training, diligence, courage, and compassion, our goal is to ensure the safety of all persons and property on campus while actively supporting our community.
